So I heard you want to play Fortnite on your Chromebook.
(That’s probably why you’re here.)
In this tutorial, we’ll see how to download, install, and use Fortnite on Chrome OS. It’s very easy to do and should not take more than 20 minutes to complete!
And it does not require Powerwash, so your settings and data will not be erased!
Once you’re done, you’ll be able to collect and build a tower to protect yourself from this SCAR in seconds, all on your Chromebook. And then go down with a Minigun from the top!
And if you have questions, leave a comment and I will answer you as soon as possible. Leave a comment if you are stuck or something.
It sounds good? Let’s roll.
This method of Fortnite download Chromebook still works from 2019! Epic Games has not released the game yet for the Chrome Web Store, so this is the only way to run the game on Chrome OS!
What you will need to start the game.
Let’s see what needs to be done to make it work.
It’s not a lot. If you’re reading this on a Windows PC or Chromebook, you already have one-third of the necessary hardware!
Here’s what you’ll need for this to work:
- A Chromebook
- A PC with Fortnite Chrome browser installed
- Chrome Remote Desktop Extension (CRD) (free)
- If you know Chrome, you probably already know what we are doing.
What are we going to do exactly?
Otherwise, here is a brief explanation:
We will install Chrome Remote Desktop on the Windows PC and Chromebook. This is the bridge to connect the two devices. You will run Fortnite on your Windows PC, but it will “broadcast” on your Chromebook.
Wait … does not the game really turn on my Chromebook?
I know what you think:
“Why should I play Fortnite on a Chromebook when I can play it on my PC?”
It’s because it’s the only way to play. And it works if you are not at home. You can play the game anywhere: at school, at work, at the park, at the dentist or even at the mall. How in combat (just be sure not to get caught!)?
This is the only way to play Fortnite on a Chromebook and gives you the flexibility to play it anywhere. If you are at home, play it on your PC. If you’re away, play it on your Chromebook. Or you can use it to play anywhere at home, at the table or in bed. Everywhere that.
The only thing needed for this to work is to have quality hardware on your Chromebook.
Okay, that sounds good. What hardware configuration is required for my Chromebook to run Fortnite?
you are probably wondering about the material.
This is probably the most important factor in determining whether or not you can use Fortnite on your Chromebook. The material is the most important thing.
As you may know, Chromebooks are not really designed for games. The majority of them have weak processors and only 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage with an integrated Intel HD Graphics video card. Well, it’s not even a dedicated graphics card. It’s a CPU-related co-processor that shares resources with it.
But fortunately, none of this really matters.
Your PC will do all the steps
Why? Because we will not use the Chromebook to make the game.
The remote connection will have your Windows PC do all the rendering. Your Chromebook will simply behave like an external wireless monitor that displays everything the PC renders.
All you need is a decent CPU and you’re ready to go. That’s all you really need to “run” the game. So do not worry if your Chromebook hardware does not meet the requirements of the system requirements. It’s good.
All you need is a decent Intel processor, such as a Celeron, i3, i5 or m3. Other processors like ARM and MediaTek will also work.
But if you’re looking for a more powerful unit, check out this list of “Game Chromebooks”.
How to install Fortnite on your Chromebook
Step 1: Get Chrome Remote Desktop on your Chromebook
So, it’s pretty much explicit. You can access the Chrome Web Store, search for it, and install it. Or you can go directly by clicking here.
Note: Make sure you are signed in with the same Google Account that you use on your PC. If you need to create a new one, you can create an account here.
Step 2: Install Chrome Remote Desktop on your PC
This step is the same as above. If you do not use the Chrome browser, you will need it to use the extension. You can download Chrome here if you are not already using it. It’s free and the most popular web browser in the world.
Note: Again, make sure you’re signed in to the same Google Account that you’re using on your Chromebook.
Step 3: Download Fortnite to your PC
If you do not already have the game on your PC, you will need it. You can download it here officially on Epic Games.
Once downloaded, install it. Just follow the instructions on the screen and install it. This should be self-evident.
Step 4: Set up remote access
This is the hardest part of the process, but even then it’s super easy! So do not worry.
So, to check that everything is set up correctly, your Windows PC and Chromebook should already be equipped with the CRD extension. And you should use the same Google account on both devices.
Did I get it? Well. Let’s roll.
Get on your PC. Launch the Chrome browser.
Launch CRD by clicking the “Applications” button on the Favorites toolbar or by typing “chrome: // applications” in the top-to-top address bar, then press Enter.
When launching, look for the “My Computers” tab and click “Start” to create a new remote access point.
Click on “Enable remote connections”.
Create a secure PIN code to use. And then confirm it. Make sure you do not forget it because you will need it in a few minutes. If you forget or you can not memorize PINs and passwords, write them down!
Click “OK” to confirm that you are ready to create the connection.
Verify that the Google Account is the one you want to use to set up the remote connection to your Chromebook.
Type the PIN that you just created. Confirm it.
Once you’re done, look for the “My Computer” tab again. You should see your own PC that you are currently using. Otherwise, try again.
Step 5: Access your PC from your Chromebook
You’re almost there! Can you feel the campers again?
Well, you should now have a Windows computer ready for remote access from your Chromebook. We will test it and make sure everything is working properly.
Go to your Chromebook and launch Chrome.
Click the “Applications” button in the bookmarks bar or type “chrome: // apps” and press Enter.
Look for the CRD extension. Click on it to launch it.
Select the Windows PC you have activated by clicking on it. It should be under “My computers”.
Type in the PIN code that you created earlier and click “Connect”.
You will then be connected to a remote desktop session and you should be able to control your computer from your Chromebook. Neat, huh? Do not hesitate to play a little.
Step 6: Play Fortnite on your Chromebook!
This is the last step (and the most exciting).
On your Chromebook, launch Fortnite on your computer via the remote connection.
The game will be launched and loaded into the title screen. You will play it from your Chromebook. An external USB gaming mouse for your Chromebook is highly recommended!
That’s all. Congratulations. You have successfully completed the tutorial.
You should now be able to play Fortnite on Chrome OS!
